London Fashion Week 2012 Hairstyles

2012 Hairsyles – Straight after New York Fashion week wraps, you can tell spring is in the hair as the fashion world descends on our capital for my favourite fashion week of all, London Fashion Week 2012.

So many great hairsyle artists get the opportunity to create for the world’s best designers and showcase the hairstyle trends at London Fashion Week 2012 that will filter down into every salon and high street for the next 12 months.

Again, as we’ve seen for the last two years at London Fashion Week, texture, wave and curl are big news. The most obvious change this year is the shine and condition of the hairstyles we’ve seen.
I believe the grungy, bed head hairstyles, “haven’t been to a salon look,” is finally dead and buried…Hurray!
This year at London Fashion Week 2012 it’s all about getting condition, shine, super high gloss and pure class back into your hair.

There are many ways to increase shine, condition and gloss in your hair.

Start with the shampoo and conditioner you use, you should always use a finishing conditioner and try to buy a professional brand from a salon that is capable of recommending and prescribing the best products for you.

If you buy from the high street, get the best quality products you can afford, often with hair products you do get what you pay for.

If you colour your hair, switch to non-lifting, ammonia free colours. Stay away from anything where you have to mix two parts together, or twist and shake. The best place to get colour done is by a professional at a good salon, this is especially true if you need to cover that grey hair.
Deep conditioning treatments are different to your day to day conditioner. They stay on the hair longer and penetrate deeper, although they usually cost a little more, you would use them less often. Most people are familiar with hot oil treatments, but be cautious, many of these only have a very temporary, cosmetic, surface effect.

Look for nourishing protein and moisturizing creams, wheat proteins are often used for strength and Shea Butter is a hot new ingredient that really moisturizes tired hair.

Talk to your stylist in the salon, here at Moodyhair, we have a range of treatments called Redken Chemistry, with amazing results that last for weeks, and start from around £9.

Make sure you use a styling product that protects your hair from heat and the environment, especially if you’re recreating those glamorous waves with hot tools.

Never tug at your hair when wet (check out www.tangleteezer.com for an amazing detangling brush that works miracles for £10. Also available at Boots and at Moodyhair), and never rub with a towel.
If you want to keep in step with fashion, take care of your hair first, after all, it’s
the one garment you keep for life and always wear!
